Oppo Watch 3 leaks in renders and live images showcasing design, more

A new leak mixing high-quality renders and even hands-on images is giving us a glimpse of the Oppo Watch 3 series for the first time.

This leak comes courtesy of Evan Blass, who tagged four mixed renders and images of the Oppo Watch 3. Right away, there’s no denying the most obvious influence on the hardware on display here, as the Oppo Watch 3 series could potentially pass for Apple’s own wearable.

This shouldn’t come as too great a shock, given that Oppo’s previous smartwatches have also had more than a hint of Cupertino’s design language.

The renders of the Oppo Watch 3 show an etched crown button with what looks like a flush button underneath; the Watch 3 is also shown what looks like an aluminum chassis and a matte black model. We can see a leather strap and a silicone-style band – which has become synonymous with wearables.

There is a very slight curve to the display, while there are no left chassis buttons.

Massive Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 leak suggests it could beat the Apple Watch 8

Image: Techradar

Samsung’s second big launch of 2022 is just around the corner, with the company holding an event on August 10 at which we’re expecting to see the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 line – and those watches are shaping up to be real highlights of the show.

At this point there’s not much we don’t know about the wearables, assuming the recent leaks we’ve seen are accurate, and a massive new leak has just emerged on WinFuture, consisting of almost a complete specs list, along with supposedly official marketing pictures.

The biggest news in this leaked info is the battery capacities, with the 40mm Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 apparently having a 284mAh battery, the 44mAh model said to have a 410mAh battery, and the 45mm Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro apparently getting an enormous 590mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A23 5G unveiled with 6.6″ LCD, 5,000mAh battery

Image: Samsung

Samsung’s official specs are mum on the exact chip that powers the Galaxy A23 5G. A Geekbench results suggested that it is the Snapdragon 695 – an upgraded 690 with 15% faster CPU and 30% faster GPU. The 695 was announced alongside the Snapdragon 680 that powers the Galaxy A23 (4G) and both are made on TSMC’s 6nm node, but the 695 hardware is several generations newer (the CPU, for example, uses Kryo 660 cores vs. Kryo 265, i.e. A78/A55 vs. A73/A53).

The phone can be configured with 4GB, 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage, which is expandable by microSD card slots up to 1TB. Like its 4G sibling, this phone launches with Android 12 and OneUI 4.1 out of the box.

The OnePlus Nord N20 SE is a Nokia G20 challenger with a few compromises

Image: Oneplus

While OnePlus focused all its resources on the OnePlus 10T unveiling a few days ago, it seems the company has also quietly slipped another device into a Chinese online retail platform with little fanfare.

The OnePlus Nord N20 SE has gone live on AliExpress, with specifications that are a step down from the OnePlus Nord N20 (via GizmoChina). The phone is powered by a two-year-old Mediatek Helio G35 chipset, which also powers some of the best Android phones under $200, such as the Nokia G20.

OnePlus’ latest budget offering is currently only available in China for $199 via AliExpress. For that price, you’ll get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It will be available to purchase beginning on August 12 in Celestial Black and Blue Oasis color variants.

In contrast, the Nord N20 5G that debuted in April includes a 6nm-based Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Not that it much matters, but M2 Mac speeds for web browsing are the fastest ever seen

Image: 9to5Mac

We’ve seen the results of a whole bunch of benchmarks measuring M2 Mac speeds in the latest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models. We can now add web browsing speed into the mix – for whatever that’s worth.

On the one hand, web browsing is probably the single most frequent activity on a Mac. On the other, the speed of the browser itself pales when compared to your connection speed, and the speed of the webserver at the other end. There’s a third real-life factor too …

Namely, the other apps your Mac is running at the time. You’ll only see the fastest speeds your machine can achieve when only the browser is open. If you have a lot of other apps open, doing things in the background, then you’ll see dramatically slower speeds. But with these things noted, let’s see how the chips compare.

Apple’s WebKit team designed Speedometer as a way of simulating user interactions with websites and web-based apps in order to measure the responsiveness of the browser. Macworld spotted Basecamp founder David Heinemeier Hanson tweeting his own results, using the Apple tool Speedometer 2.0.

Latest WhatsApp beta lets you see who left the group or was removed from it

Image: Wabetainfo

WhatsApp has been working on a bunch of features to expand its feature list and make it more appealing to its users. Most of the features are mainly focused on group chats. For instance, the recent one that allows group admins to delete messages for everyone, and more. There is another feature that WhatsApp has been spotted testing in its latest beta version.

According to WABetaInfo, the latest feature lets WhatsApp users know who has left the group or who has been removed from it by the admin themselves. This would negate the need to ask the group members who and how someone was removed from the group. This WhatsApp feature would be available for both group members and admins.

This new WhatsApp group feature will be accessible under the list of current participants in the “Group Info” tab. Here, you will see a new option, “See Past Participants.” This section would contain the names of the removed members. It even gets a dedicated search bar to find someone specific, which is good for a group that has a huge member list.
