Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro specs and prices leak – slightly cheaper than the 12 series in Europe

Image: Xiaomi

Xiaomi will soon unveil its first phone with a 200MP camera and, unlike the 12S Ultra, it will be available in the West. That is the Xiaomi 12T Pro and it will be joined by a vanilla 12T model.

Both phones will have flat 6.67” AMOLED displays with 1,220 x 2,712px resolution (which you may have seen labeled as “1.5K”, it falls between FHD+ and QHD+). The displays will have 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5.

As you can imagine, the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro will come with different price tags too, but the rumored value is less than you would pay for a Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, respectively.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro is rumored to cost €850 in Europe (that converts to ₹67,500). For comparison the Xiaomi 12 Pro goes for €900 right now on mi.com. Of course, that one has a 50MP main, 50MP ultra wide and a 50MP 2x tele cameras, plus a QHD+ LTPO AMOLED panel, but it does use the older 8 Gen 1 chipset and has a smaller 4,600mAh battery (also with 120W charging).

The Xiaomi 12T should cost €650 (₹52,000), which is again just south of what a Xiaomi 12 costs from the official store (€700). However, that one had an 8 Gen 1 chips, which should outperform the Dimensity (even if it does run hot). It does come with a smaller, slower battery (4,500mAh, 67W) and a different camera setup (50+13+5MP), though.

The Xiaomi 12T is expected to go official next week and the Pro will go into a 200MP war against the Moto Edge 30 Ultra (which sells for €900).

By the way, a couple of weeks ago some Xiaomi 12T Pro renders surfaced and they were paired with images of a Redmi Pad tablet. There is no guarantee that the Pad is coming next week too, but we’ll keep an eye out for it.

Image: MIIT

vivo still hasn’t picked a date on which to reveal the revamped X Fold+ phone, but you can now take a peek at it since China’s MIIT published images of the new foldable flagship.

And when we say “new” we mean new on the inside, since the exterior looks the same. The photos show the black colorway, which has the same decorative band across the vivo logo on the faux leather exterior.

There should be no changes to the displays and cameras compared to the original vivo X Fold. This means a 6.53” cover display (21:9, FHD+, 120Hz, AMOLED) and 8.03” main display (1,916 x 2,160px, 120Hz, LTPO AMOLED).

As for the Zeiss-branded cameras, they should be the same quartet of a 50MP main module (1/1.57” sensor, 1.0µm, OIS), 48MP ultra wide (114°), 12MP portrait cam (2x) and 8MP periscope (5x, OIS). Also, there are two selfie cameras, one on the outside and one on the inside.

Apple warns iPhone 14 users may experience issues activating iMessage and FaceTime out of the box

Image: Apple

Apple today released a support document officially detailing potential issues for customers setting up their new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro today.

Due to activation issues in iOS 16.0, iMessage and FaceTime may not work properly out of the box. iPhone 14 issues include being unable to receive iMessage or FaceTime calls, green bubbles showing instead of blue bubbles when contacting another iMessage user, and recipients may see your messages coming from the correct account …

In short, iOS 16.0 has new device set up bugs related to device activation with iMessage and FaceTime. Obviously, this is imperfect timing with so many customers buying iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max models today with iOS 16.0 preinstalled.

Luckily, Apple has already addressed these problems with the release of iOS 16.0.1, which was pushed out yesterday.

Apple says that iMessage and FaceTime related issues should be resolved after updating to the latest iOS version. As part of new device setup, your new iPhone may prompt you to upgrade before you even reach the home screen. If not, after getting your iPhone 14, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update and update to the latest available version.

Twitter could roll out a wider test of its Edit Tweet feature on September 21

Image: XDA

Twitter users have been asking for an edit button for years. The inability to edit a typo has been a huge pain point for many on the platform. But, finally, our prayers were answered, as Twitter revealed at the beginning of the month that it would begin testing the feature with Twitter Blue subscribers. Now, it looks like the feature could roll out to a much wider audience starting on September 21.

Casey Newton of Platformer shared through his Twitter that the feature could be rolling out to the public starting next week. While this news might get you excited, he was quick to clarify when asked that this would not be a public roll out outside of Twitter Blue subscribers. So while a public roll out is scheduled to occur, according to internal documentation that Newton was shown, it will most likely just be a broader release to those currently enrolled in the program. What this means is that if you want to try the Edit Tweet feature, you are going to have to cough up at least $4.99 per month to do so for the time being.

So what do you get for being a Twitter Blue subscriber? Users can now access ad-free articles, bookmark folders, custom app icons, themes, and other features. Users will also gain access to Twitter Blue Labs, a set of experimental features still in testing. These features tend to change, but currently, users can access longer and higher quality video uploads, NFT profile pictures, and the recently revamped Spaces tab. If all of that seems worth the price, being able to edit tweets will just be a cherry on top.

YouTube is showing as many as 10 unskippable ads in a row

Image: Sammobile

YouTube has been ramping up the number of ads on its platform as a means of maintaining the platform and supporting creators financially. While ads may be pretty annoying, YouTube has no intention of lowering the numbers. You can see more than five ads on your Samsung device.

In fact, several users have reported seeing as many as 5 to 10 unskippable ads in a row before the video even starts. Generally, these ads last as little as a few seconds or can go as long as a few minutes. Longer ads have the option to skip after a set period. But now, YouTube viewers are noticing that not only the number of ads has gone up to 10, but the length of the unskippable ads has also expanded.

Image: Uber

Taxi giant Uber has suffered a major cyberattack in which threat actors accessed many of the company’s critical IT systems, applications, endpoints, and sensitive data.

The attack, which has since been confirmed by Uber, appears to be the work of a threat actor managed to steal login credentials from a company employee.

The New York Times, which broke the news, said it had spoken to the alleged hacker, who claimed to have breached Uber after performing a social engineering attack on an employee and stealing passwords.
