Realme 9i renders show triple camera on the back, side-mounted fingerprint reader

Realme is preparing to launch the 9-series early next year and (according to rumors) it will consist of four models, the cheapest of which will be the Realme 9i. Yesterday we saw some leaked specs for the 9i and a first look at the design. Today, @onleaks and 91Mobiles deliver many more renders and some additional details about the phone.

It will have a 6.5” display, most likely an IPS LCD, considering the side-mounted fingerprint reader. Unconfirmed info suggests that it will have 1080p+ resolution and that it will run at a 90 Hz refresh rate.

vivo iQOO Neo 5s, iQOO Neo 5se with 66W fast charging incoming

Four more vivo phones are coming in the following weeks and the famous Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station revealed more details about them. The vivo S12 and vivo S12 Pro will stick to 44W fast charging, just like their predecessors, while the iQOO Neo 5s and iQOO Neo 5se will bring 66W to the table.

The leakster also revealed the quartet of phones will come with three chipsets – Snapdragon 778G+, Dimensity 1200, and Snapdragon 888, without clarifying which chip goes where. We would think both the S12 and S12 Pro will both have the mid-range Snapdragon, while the Neo series of the iQOO brand will get the mightier platforms.

Motorola Moto Edge X30’s rear design and color options revealed through official renders

Motorola Moto Edge X30's rear design and color options revealed through official renders
Image: Motorola

Leaked renders of the Motorola Moto Edge X30 coming tomorrow have already revealed what the smartphone looks like. It has a centered selfie camera on the front, with a triple camera setup on the rear aligned vertically in the top-left corner. Motorola corroborated the selfie camera bit and showed off the Moto Edge X30’s slim bezels last week by posting its live image, and now the company has given us an official look at the smartphone’s back panel while also revealing its color options.

The only noticeable differences between previously leaked images and the pictures shared by Motorola today are: 1) the camera island has 50MP and OIS written on it; 2) the Motorola batwing logo on the back cover is placed farther from the cameras; 3) there’s a Motorola moniker on the rear panel.

Kuo: AirPods Pro 2 and three new Apple Watch models expected fall 2022, larger display iPhone SE in 2023

Image: Apple

Ming-Chi Kuo also referred to several other products in his report published today. The reliable Apple analyst expects three new Apple Watch models to debut next year, including the Apple Watch Series 8, a new Apple Watch SE and the previously-rumored rugged sports version.

A significant upgrade to AirPods Pro will also release in late 2022, featuring a ‘significantly upgraded’ chip. Bloomberg previously reported that the new AirPods Pro will feature onboard health sensors for the first time, and may feature a radical chassis redesign eradicating the stems altogether.

Unfortunately, Kuo does not go into detail about what to expect from the 2022 Apple Watch lineup. In the lead up to Series 7 release, Kuo and other publications reported that the device would feature a new ‘square’ industrial design with flat sides. This did not come to pass and in fact the Apple Watch Series 7’s design is slightly rounder than the Series 6.

It remains unclear whether the square design will ever resurface for a future Apple Watch Series 8. We also don’t know yet what the 2022 Apple Watch SE update will entail.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is expected to add a body temperature sensor, enabling additional health and fitness tracking.

The sports watch rumor is interesting. Last year, Bloomberg said the ‘Explorer’ model would feature impact shock resistance and a protective exterior similar to a Casio G-Shock watch. The device would be marketed at extreme sports athletes, including hikers and climbers.

For the iPhone SE, Kuo reiterates previous rumors that the 2022 update will be a minor spec bump year, retaining the same 3 GB RAM and same industrial design. However, Kuo expects that the iPhone SE revision in 2023 will be more substantial, including a larger display and 4 GB RAM for the first time in Apple’s lowest-end phone. The iPhone SE is typically refreshed in the March/April timeframe.

Kuo: First Apple AR/VR headset weighs about 350 grams, lighter second-gen model already in development

Prolific Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is continuing his coverage of the upcoming Apple augmented reality and virtual reality product, with the first-generation headset expected to debut sometime in 2022.

The first-generation headset will weigh around 300-400 grams, which compares quite favourably to the existing VR headsets on the market. However, the analyst says Apple is already working on a second-generation design which will be significantly lighter, as well as featuring an updated industrial design, new battery system, and faster processor.

Kuo stresses that Apple’s debut in this space will be a mixed reality device, enabling augmented reality and virtual reality experiences in a single headset.

The phone is said to pack a 6.7” AMOLED panel, manufactured by Samsung. It will be flat, with no curved sides, and will support up to 120Hz refresh rate. There will be a single selfie camera with a 32MP sensor.

The rear will host a trio of cameras – a 50MP 1/1.5 main one, which is likely with the Sony IMX766 module, a 50 MP ultrawide shooter, and a telephoto cam with unknown resolution so far. The phone will support 65W charging, despite what previous rumors told us. The company has been claiming 125W UltraDart is right around the corner for over a year, but it appears there’s still more waiting to be done.

Oppo Retractable Camera Teaser

Going by the markings visible on the camera module, OPPO is using a 1/1.56″ sensor paired with a 50mm-equivalent lens and an f/2.4 aperture. However, it isn’t clear if the module will be used as a telephoto camera. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait very long to find out, as OPPO’s Inno Day 2021 event is set to kick off on December 14.

The retractable camera module won’t be the only new tech that OPPO will showcase next week. The company has confirmed that a new “cutting-edge” NPU and a pair of smart AR glasses will be unveiled on the first day of the event. On the second day of the event, OPPO is set to launch a new “flagship product.”
