Missed your chance to pick up a new iPhone 13 Pro with a dinosaur tooth? For diehard Apple fans who want to stand out, there are new exclusive editions of the iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max that include parts from the original iPhone released in 2007.

Don’t worry, the iPhone 2G Edition will have all of the iPhone 13’s features like a smaller notch, 120Hz refresh rate ProMotion display and better cameras. But Caviar Global, a designer smartphone brand that also sold that dinosaur tooth phone, has snipped out slices of silicon from a 2007 iPhone and ensconced them in a transparent Apple logo cover. Sitting at the center of a blueprint-like design engraved on the special edition’s rear cover, it’s a completely cosmetic touch, along with a laser-etched re-creation of Apple cofounder Steve Jobs’ signature at the bottom.

Xiaomi 12 gets 3C certified with 67W charging

A Xiaomi device believed to be the vanilla 12 has bagged 3C certification, revealing 67W charging support in the process. While 67W charging is pretty fast, it’s still slower than the Xiaomi 12 Pro, which is expected to go up to 120W.

Circling back to the vanilla model, 3C doesn’t tell us anything about the Xiaomi 12 other than revealing the maximum charging speed and 5G support, but reliable tipster Digital Chat Station recently claimed the smartphone will pack a 4,500 mAh battery.

The Xiaomi 12 is expected to run MIUI 13 out of the box, and a leaked image also showed us what the smartphone’s rear panel looks like. Rumors claim Xiaomi will use a unique coating technology for the phone’s camera bump to achieve a feel that’s in line with the back cover’s finish.

Battery capacity has come in leaps and bounds from the early 2010s, when it wasn’t uncommon to see batteries with 2,000mAh capacities or much lower. These days, 4,000mAh tends to be the minimum for many brands, but Xiaomi has now announced new tech that allows it to squeeze even more capacity into the same battery size.

The company announced new battery technology (h/t: Xiaomi on Weibo) that maintains the same battery volume but increases capacity by up to 10%. This is made possible thanks to new high-silicon battery tech, offering a claimed three-fold increase in the battery’s silicon content, along with upgraded packaging, and a so-called “Fuel Gauge” chip.

More specifically, Xiaomi says battery life can be increased by 100 minutes with the new tech. We’re guessing this depends on the phone’s battery capacity and other factors (e.g. whether it has a high refresh rate, the type of chipset, etc).

Android games are coming to Windows 11 with Google Play

Image: Google / Microsoft

The Game Awards, hosted by Geoff Keighley, wrapped up last night, and it came with a fair share of surprises.

Google was one of many companies to appear, announcing that Android apps from the Google Play Games store are coming to both Windows 11 and Windows 10 in 2022.

This is an effort being made by Google itself. While Microsoft has an agreement with Amazon to host Android apps from the Amazon App Store on the redesigned Microsoft Store in Windows 11, this is a different approach from Google.

This will be its own app, enabling users with a Google Play account to download their Android games without having to purchase them again. They can also resume where they left off in a game on their Windows device.
