Upcoming Intel Core i5-12400 processor may be an energy-efficient powerhouse

Intel unveils the 12th Gen Intel Core processor

Igor’s Lab tested the processor for gaming purposes, and the testing returned good results. The new CPU is based on a smaller version of Intel’s new Alder Lake-S silicon, called H0. Unlike many other Alder Lake processors, this one comes with only six Golden Cove (performance) CPU cores — it doesn’t feature any Gracemont (efficiency) cores. The CPU has a base clock speed of 2.5GHz and can be boosted up to 4.4GHz in turbo mode.

Intel Core i5-12400 has a base power of 65 watts and reaches up to 117W in turbo mode — this value is referred to as maximum turbo power (MTP). Testing revealed that the processor should offer fantastic energy efficiency while performing well in gaming.

In the benchmarks, Intel’s new Core i5-12400 was tested in several games and then compared to currently existing CPUs. It performed similarly to the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X in several titles, but it also outmatched the Ryzen in more than one test.

Check out the watch faces that might be included with Google’s rumored Pixel Watch

Image: Android Police

Currently, the emulator in Android Studio is the only way to experience what the stock version of Wear OS 3 will be like on future watches. The 9to5Google team found a video within the emulator that shows a variety of watch faces that will be available on an upcoming Wear OS device.

About 10 different watchfaces have been revealed, including one that shows Fitbit logo. Two of these watchfaces were also seen on the renders of the Pixel Watch. This further indicates that the leaked watchfaces will make their way to the actual smartwatch and are not just for demo purposes.

Samsung Galaxy A13 4G gets benchmarked with Exynos 850 chipset

Samsung Galaxy A13 4G gets benchmarked with Exynos 850 chipset
Image: Geekbench

In the meantime, someone in possession of a Galaxy A13 4G prototype decided to put it through the paces of Geekbench, and as usual, this means there’s now a public result listing on the internet, showcasing how it’s done and also revealing some of its specs.

It’s not pretty, though, what Geekbench is telling us. First off, the SoC at the helm is the Exynos 850, Samsung’s cheapest and least powerful chipset. This is paired with 3GB of RAM in the unit that ran the benchmark, although multiple memory options might be available upon launch.

The phone is at least running Android 12, which means there’s a chance it would launch with the latest version of the OS, and thus get updates all the way up to Android 14.

Harper’s Bazaar China posted a series of photos showing the Huawei P50 Pocket on its Weibo account today, giving us a great look at the folded device. We get a peek at the rear camera housing (confirming previous leaks), external display, and how this screen can be used for selfies when folded. It’s also worth noting the gold colorway, which differs from the white color scheme in previous teases.

The company confirmed that Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor would all offer smartphones with the new processor. It added that we can expect the first devices with the SoC in Q1 2022. Vivo and Honor didn’t give out any specific details regarding their use of the Dimensity 9000, but both Oppo and Xiaomi did.

The X30 is the more capable device out of the two, coming with Qualcomm’s 6nm Snapdragon 695 and a 1080 x 2388-pixel 6.8-inch IPS LCD refreshing at 120Hz. Another marquee feature is the 66W charging capability which should be able to fill the phone’s 4,800mAh battery from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes.

Elsewhere you get a 48MP main camera around the back alongside a 2MP macro cam and a 2MP depth helper. The camera ring design is clearly inspired by the Honor Magic 3 series. There’s a tiny punch hole cutout centered below the earpiece housing the 16MP selfie shooter.

The phone boots Honor’s Magic UI 5.0 on top of Android 11 and is available in four colors – black, silver, gold and blue. RAM varies from 6-12GB while storage comes in at 128GB or 256GB.

The renders show a left-aligned punch-hole cutout on the front,  as well as a 3.5mm port at the bottom of the phone. We also see a power button on the right-hand side while the volume keys are on the left edge of the phone. True to the outlet’s previous coverage, the OnePlus Nord 2 CE doesn’t seem to have an alert slider. So you might want to splash out on a higher-end OnePlus phone if that switch is important to you.

OnePlus 10 Pro leaked specs suggest better selfie camera, faster charging

OnePlus 10 Pro leaked specs suggest mild improvement

The OnePlus 10 Pro will inherit the 6.7” LTPO AMOLED panel of 120Hz refresh rate of the OnePlus 9 Pro as well as the punch hole in the upper left corner. However, this time the front-facing shooter will have a 32MP sensor. Around the back the 48MP wide, 50MP ultrawide and 8MP 3x telephoto camears will be retained, although some of them might get new sensors.

The wireless charging will go up to 50W. The rumor for 80W wired charging is in line with a previous report that the Oppo Find X4 Pro is getting 80W, the two companies sharing a lot of R&D and manufacturing resources.

Apple Rumored to Launch Lower-Priced 24-Inch and 27-Inch External Displays: What to Expect

Image: Apple

Since the Thunderbolt Display was discontinued in 2016, Apple has not offered a consumer-oriented external display. Apple did release the Pro Display XDR in 2019, but it is aimed at professionals and costs a hefty $4,999.

Fortunately, rumors suggest that Apple is developing two new lower-priced external displays that will be more suitable for everyday users. A new version of the Pro Display XDR with an Apple silicon chip is also said to be in development.

TSMC client list shows Apple makes up a quarter of its revenue

Image: 9to5Mac

A listing of TSMC clients shows that Apple generates just over a quarter of the chipmaker’s revenue, at 25.9% – with no other companies reaching double digits …

Bloomberg and Digitimes data shows that TSMC’s second-largest client is MediaTek, at 5.8%. All other clients are below 5%.

However, things could change, with Intel placing far larger orders with TSMC as it transitions from being a chipmaker to more of a chip designer. The Taiwanese chipmaker’s technical lead is so great that it would be hard for Intel to compete with TSMC’s fabrication capabilities – despite the American company’s bluster.
