The Galaxy A series welcomes two new 5G phones, which introduce a new 5 nm chipset – a chipset that Samsung barely mentions, but it should be the new Exynos 1280. As for the two phones, they are mostly the same save for the display and camera.

After the rather extensive leak from a few days ago revealing many of the iQOO Neo6 specs, we now have the supposed launch time frame. The renowned tipster, Digital Chat Sttation thinks that the handset will arrive sometime in the beginning of April.

The Weibo post also suggests that the device will offer two pressure-sensitive shoulder triggers and a heat sink that incorporates new materials for optimal heat dissipation.

As far as current reports go, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 should be on the forefront along with a flat 6.6-inch Samsung-made E4 AMOLED panel running at 120Hz, 4,700 mAh battery and 80W fast charging.

Realme teases the GT Neo3’s 150W charging with TÜV Rheinland certification

Image: realme

BBK Electronics-made phones have been at the forefront of fast charging for a couple of years now and companies under the umbrella are looking to maintain that leadership. Realme GT Neo3, for example, is confirmed to arrive with 150W UltraDart fast wired charging and today, the company released another teaser for it.

The teaser posters show the GT Neo3’s cell split in half, which is the usual battery design used for fast charging tech. The 4,500 mAh battery will charge from flat to 50% in just 5 minutes, so a full charge would probably take well below the 20-minute mark.

Samsung starts accepting pre-reservations for The Freestyle projector in India

Samsung The Freestyle Projector
Image: Samsung

Samsung had unveiled The Freestyle portable projector at CES 2022 earlier this year. While it was available for pre-order in South Korea and the US right after its announcement, the Indian audience wasn’t so lucky. But the wait is over now as the South Korean firm has started accepting pre-registrations for the device in India.

The Freestyle is listed on Samsung India’s website, and the company has mentioned that it’s “coming soon.” By paying INR 2,000 from March 18 to March 22, you can pre-register yourself to be in line to get the projector, and you can get INR 4,000 off on the final purchase. The company has still not announced the pricing of The Freestyle, but we expect it to be priced upwards of INR 70,000 in India.

Chrome OS to lose some space in latest Google rebranding shenanigans

Image: Google

Chrome OS is Google’s operating system for laptops (Chromebooks, to be precise), built around the company’s browser of the same name. For years, the software has gone by the official designation of Chrome OS written in two words. But it looks like that could change soon, as reports suggest that Google is doing away with the space, leaving us with “ChromeOS.”

The new report comes to us courtesy of the folks at 9to5Google. They combed through Google’s newly posted, yet to be completed code changes, with the company replacing around 1,000 instances of “Chrome OS” with “ChromeOS.” The changes are said to range from text visible to Chromebook users to internal comments reserved for developers. This subtle branding update would unify the name across the board and make Google’s offerings more consistent.

In the past, we’ve seen instances where Google styled the operating system as chromeOS with a lowercase c and without the space, mostly in development-focused environments. Plus, the Chromebooks moniker doesn’t have any space, so the company clearly believed that something had to be done.

The branding isn’t limited to Chrome OS, though. The report notes that Google’s open-source version of the software, Chromium OS, will also get a similar name change — losing the space to become ChromiumOS. That said, the tech giant has yet to bring the change to its official websites and assorted documentation.

Android 13 DP2 adds Privacy Controls shortcut to Quick Settings

Image: Android Police

Today is another milestone in the development of Android 13 with the release of the second developer preview. Yes, it seems like we just had an Android release, but that was the unusual mid-season bump to 12L. Android 13 is the big update for 2022, and Google is adding even more privacy functionality. The new DP adds a Quick Settings shortcut to your privacy controls and security settings.

The Security and Privacy button (spotted by Esper’s Mishaal Rahman) should be available in the Quick Settings after you get on the latest version, but it doesn’t do much yet. It won’t turn anything on or off, but it will link you to a new menu with toggles for the mic, camera, and location access. It makes sense, then, that the button is labeled “Check status.” Below the toggles, the new menu also gives you a link to the phone’s Security settings.

Apple’s Latest Update Can Brick Your Mac

Image: Shutterstock

It’s possible you already updated to macOS 12.3 and didn’t run into any issues. I can say the same, since both my iMac and MacBook Pro are running just fine after I installed the latest update. I’m happily using Universal Control, sending new emoji, and generally enjoying the other fresh features the update has to offer.

However, if you’ve ever had your Mac’s logic board replaced, do not download and install the update. According to MacRumors, macOS 12.3 does not play nice with machines with new logic boards. When you attempt to update one of these computers to 12.3, you’ll see anything from error messages to endless restarts to the worst-case scenario, a bricked Mac.
