First Intel Arc A350M benchmarks show performance on par with Nvidia GTX 1650

Twitter user @harukaze5719 included scores for Fire Strike and Time Spy (both part of 3DMark) using both the default and performance variations of the Arc A350M. The poster used a Samsung Book Pro2 laptop using the new graphics system to capture these benchmarks.

In Fire Strike, the Arc A350M scored 6,876 in default mode and 7,318 in performance mode. For Time Spy, the difference between the two modes was somewhat similar. At default performance, the Arc A350M managed 2,653, with it peaking at 3,494 in performance mode. The older GTX 1650 scored 8,152 in Fire Strike and 3,430 in Time Spy, as noted by Notebook Check.

Again, the A350M’s scores aren’t great compared to the much higher 3DMark scores the RTX 3050 showcases. However, The A350M isn’t trying to compete with that particular card. If Intel does want to give Nvidia and AMD a run for their money, though, its next Arc GPUs are going to need to deliver some amazing benchmarks. Especially if it wants to stand up to the new RTX 3090 Ti.

Earlier this week, Samsung launched the Galaxy A53 in India alongside the Galaxy A73, Galaxy A33, Galaxy A23, and the Galaxy A13. Now, the company has dropped the price of the Galaxy A52s 5G, which was launched in the second half of last year.

The Galaxy A52s 5G is now priced at INR 30,990 (around $406) for the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage now costs INR 32,499 (around $426). The smartphone’s launch pricing was INR 35,990 and INR 37,499 for 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variants, respectively.

Earlier this year, their prices were decreased, but that was only applicable for offline retail channels. Even online stores have now started selling the Galaxy A52s 5G with a lower price tag. This makes the Galaxy A52s 5G a more sensible choice than the Galaxy A53.

Valve has released software updates for the Steam Deck on the stable and beta channels which bring improvements and new features to the device, but also squash some bugs.

The beta firmware adds an uncapped framerate setting to the Quick Access > Performance menu and also fTPM support which enables Windows 11 installation. Additionally, the build improves the Steam Deck’s compatibility with Type-C docks and PSUs, and you should also expect better battery life in low usage scenarios.

The market for consumer electronics recovered in 2021 and analysts expect to see faster then anticipated growth in 2022 when five million Bluetooth devices will be shipped.

“Every year, the Bluetooth SIG member community works hard to deliver innovations that improve the capabilities of Bluetooth technology and help shape new market trends,” said Mark Powell, CEO at Bluetooth SIG. “The forecasts in the 2022 Bluetooth Market Update reflect the tireless work of the many Bluetooth SIG members who are developing innovations that create a more connected world.”

Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio is one of the biggest growth areas, promising higher quality sound and lower power consumption for products like speakers, headsets and earbuds. By 2026, shipments of Bluetooth-enabled earbuds will reach 619 million – two thirds of all wireless headsets. CEO confirms NIO is developing its own phones, names Apple as a potential rival

Image: Electrek

Although NIO CEO William Li recently admitted the company is only in the research phase, he has confirmed the Chinese automaker is exploring the production of its own phones. By combining technology with humanity, NIO hopes to provide one holistic system for consumers’ daily lives – much like Apple, who NIO’s CEO sees as a potential rival in the future.

NIO ($NIO) is an EV automaker founded in China in 2014. Since then, it has quickly established itself as one of the leading electrified brands, beginning with its ES8, ES6, and EC6 line of SUVs.

These models have since been joined by NIO’s first sedan, the ET7, which began first deliveries in China this week. With a second sedan called the ET5 already on the way, NIO has continued to expand to other markets outside of China, like Norway and Germany.

With sub-brands like NIO House membership clubs, NIO Power charging infrastructure, and NIO Life merchandise, the Chinese automaker is already more than a premium car brand. This is purposeful, and according to NIO’s CEO, it has no intentions of slowing down its expansion to become a household brand.

In fact, the company plans to use its experience in technology to create an even larger and more holistic experience for its customers that may soon include mobile phones that pair with NIO EVs – sort of a reverse strategy to the approach Apple is currently taking.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 will have slightly larger batteries for the 40 and 44 mm models

Samsung managed to incrementally increase the battery capacity of the 44 mm Galaxy Watch4 compared to its predecessor, but that wasn’t the case for the 40 mm model. A certification by Safety Korea shows that both sizes are getting upgraded in the next generation.

It will be an incremental upgrade again, week-long battery endurance still isn’t possible for full-fledged smartwatches.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 40 mm (EB-BR900ABY) will have a 276 mAh battery, up from 247 mAh (+29 mAh). The larger Watch5 44 mm (EB-BR910ABY) will have a 397 mAh battery, up from 361 mAh (+36 mAh).

Moto G52 leak suggests that it will be a minor upgrade over the Moto G51

Motorola G52 leaked renders

Although it’s only been a few months since Motorola launched the Moto G51, leaks about its successor have already started popping up online. According to the latest leak, the upcoming Moto G52 will feature the same design as the Moto G51, but it will feature a few improvements on the inside.

The leak in question comes from noted leaker Evan Blass (via 91mobiles), and it gives us our first look at the Moto G52. As you can see in the attached images, the device features a flat display on the front with a centered hole-punch cutout at the top for the 16MP selfie camera. On the back, it features a pill-shaped camera island in the top left corner housing three camera sensors and the Motorola logo in the center.

In addition to these leaked marketing images, Blass has shared that the Moto G52 will pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 chip, a 6.55-inch FHD+ pOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, and 4GB or 6GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage.

Furthermore, Blass claims that the Moto G52 will feature IP52 certification for dust and water resistance, a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. It will also pack a 5,000mAh battery and run Android 12 out of the box. One of the images also indicates that the device could feature a dual-speaker setup.

In contrast, the Moto G51 packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 480 Pro chip, a 6.8-inch FHD+ 120Hz IPS display, a 50MP triple camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery. The device features a single bottom-firing speaker, and it runs Android 11 out of the box.

Currently, Motorola has not shared any official information about the upcoming Moto G52. The leak doesn’t shed light on a possible release date, either. So, it might be a while before Motorola officially lifts the covers off the Moto G52. We’ll make sure to let you know as soon as we have more details about the device.

Apple and LG are reportedly collaborating on foldable iPad and MacBook OLED screens

Apple and LG are reportedly collaborating on foldable iPad and MacBook OLED screens
Image: XDA

Back in February, we learned that Apple could be working on a 20-inch Mac/iPad hybrid. Apart from its screen size and the high possibility of it being years away, there’s not much that we know. A new report from The Elec states that LG Display is collaborating with Apple on foldable OLED screens with ultra-thin glass covers — instead of polyimide. The panels are reportedly designed for tablets and notebooks. So we could potentially see them implemented in future iPad and MacBook models.

It’s unclear if the final device would be an all-new product with an independent lineup or a mere upgrade to the existing iPad and/or MacBook lineups. Considering we probably won’t see the official product anytime soon, it’s really hard to imagine or predict Apple’s plans. The company could possibly scratch the whole project altogether, too, if the quality doesn’t meet its standards. We will have to wait until the company announces or teases it, potentially around 2026.

Get ready for the world’s first Android phone with… an Apple Lightning port?

You may recall robotics engineering student Ken Pillonel, who set out to do what Apple wouldn’t. He opened up an iPhone X and replaced its boring proprietary Lightning port with a USB-C port. He later auctioned off the device, selling at a whopping $86,000. Now, a few months later, Pillonel has returned with a new project. He basically reversed course, now replacing a Samsung Galaxy A51’s USB-C port with a Lightning connector.
