Samsung’s Galaxy A53 5G ditches the headphone jack for a sleeker design

The phone retains the large 6.7 display with a center-mounted punch-hole camera. The positioning of the quad-camera lenses and the LED flash module also seems to be a straight lift from the Galaxy A52.

Upon closer inspection, though, you will notice that the rear camera housing on the A53 isn’t as pronounced and that it seamlessly blends into the rear panel instead of abruptly jutting out.

While not evident from the renders, the Galaxy A53 is also expected to be slightly thinner than its predecessor, possibly serving as a possible justification for removing the headphone jack. Onleaks claims that the updated model will measure 8.14mm at the edges compared to the 8.4mm thick Galaxy A52.

Oppo A95 coming soon with big battery and familiar design

Oppo Philippines has posted the A95 on its Facebook page with a link to the online retailer Lazada where fans can put the product on their wishlist; however, the listing is now taken down.

Nothing can really be deleted from the internet however, so we can confirm the specs sheet is exactly the same as the Oppo F19 – a Snapdragon 662 chipset, 6.43” AMOLED with Full HD+ resolution and Android 11 out of the box.

The Oppo A95 will be offered in Black or Silver with 128GB of storage. The official launch is scheduled for later this month, and when the phone is officially announced, it will start selling for PHP15,995 (that’s about $320/€275).

The vivo V23 series is right around the corner, a leakster on Twitter revealed. The first phone out of the door will be a vivo V23e with three cameras, an ultra-thin body and a Helio G96 chipset if we can trust the leaked specs sheet. The tweet also brings the official press images of the device.

The phone is powered by a Helio G96 chipset, meaning it’s limited to LTE connectivity, but that shouldn’t be an issue in its main markets in Southeast Asia.

The 6.44” AMOLED screen has Full HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch for the impressive sounding 50MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. Around the back you have a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide shooter and a 2MP depth sensor.

The vivo V23e will have Funtouch 12 out of the box, based on the latest Android 12. The price will be revealed whenever the phone makes its official debut.

Poco’s latest budget smartphone packs 5G and a 50MP camera

Image: Poco

Despite being a budget offering from Poco, the 8.75mm-thick M4 Pro 5G packs an impressive spec sheet comprising a 50MP primary camera, 90Hz LCD panel, 5G connectivity, and 33W fast charging. The device is powered by MediaTek’s latest chipset fabricated on the 6nm node: the Dimensity 810. The octa-core chip features two Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.4GHz and six low-power Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz. This is paired with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU running at 1068Mhz. It’s just a shame that the entry-level model only packs a scant 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which is plainly insufficient these days. Almost anybody should opt for the slightly better 6GB/128GB model.

The 6.6-inch 90Hz FHD+ LCD panel is another notable feature of the device. It has DynamicSwitch, meaning the screen can switch between 50/60/90Hz refresh rates to save battery depending on what’s displayed. The content consumption experience is further improved with the addition of dual speakers.

Oppo’s next flagship tipped for fastest charging ever on a phone

Image: Android Police

According to Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster on Weibo, the upcoming Oppo Find X4 could come with the fastest charging of any smartphone.

While a few manufacturers have showcased 125W fast charging capabilities, we’ve not seen it in a consumer product yet. Unless some other brand launches a phone with a 125W fast charging sooner, Oppo will be the first company to feature this insanely fast charging speed. Currently, the Xiaomi 11T Pro is the market leader with support for 120W wired charging.

Oppo unveiled the 125W charger a few months back along with other options such as a 50W wall charger, a 65W AirVOOC wireless pad, and a 110W mini flash charger. The 125W full-size flash charger that Oppo showed off earlier this year supplies 20V and 6.25A to the phone in order to deliver the 125W. With this charger, the phone will be able to go from 0-100% in just 20 minutes (for a 4,000mAh battery).

Samsung has said that it will begin work later this year with manufacturers to bring LPDDR5x RAM to devices, but shared no timeframe for the first of those hitting the market.
