This could be Qualcomm’s official name for its next flagship Snapdragon SoC

Snapdragon 8gx Gen
Image: Qualcomm

According to a Twitter user going by the handle @Za_Raczke, Qualcomm’s upcoming premium SoC will be known as the Snapdragon 8Gx Gen 1. The latest leak is based on Qualcomm’s staging website, where templates for upcoming products are posted prior to their official unveiling.

The page for the upcoming chipset is obviously just a template for the actual product, and all of the text on it is merely placeholder. However, it aligns with Qualcomm’s previous announcement about changing the naming scheme of its Snapdragon mobile platforms to a new “simplified” structure. Starting with its upcoming flagship 8-series platform, its mobile platforms will be transitioned to a single-digit series and generation number under the new scheme.

Apple headset could have ‘interchangeable lenses’ for VR and AR experiences

Apple VR Headset Concept by Antonio De Rosa

Rumors have been afoot for several months now that Apple is developing a mixed reality headset. Now it seems that the official announcement could come sometime in 2022, even if it will be much longer before we actually get the product in our hands.

The details come from the newsletter Power On by Bloombergs Mark Gurman. Gurman has spent a lot of his career covering Apple products, and in the newsletter, he speculates that the launch of an Apple headset will be akin to the releases of other products like the Apple Watch, original iPhone, and the iPad.

“Apple’s first headset will have a complex, expensive-to-build design, complete with interchangeable lenses,” says Gurman in the newsletter. “The company will likely need to work with governments globally on possible prescription lenses and partner with a bevy of manufacturers on complex technologies that neither side has shipped before.”

Xiaomi debuts the Redmi Note 11 series in India with the Redmi Note 11T 5G

Xiaomi debuts the Redmi Note 11 series in India with the Redmi Note 11T 5G
Image: Xiaomi

The Redmi Note 11 series has already been launched in China. We’re expecting all the devices in the series to make their way to India gradually. But for now, Xiaomi is only launching the Redmi Note 11T 5G, which was launched globally as the POCO M4 Pro 5G. As the name clearly suggests, the Redmi Note 11T is a 5G-enabled smartphone making it the first 5G phone in the Redmi Note series in India. This is more like a successor to the POCO M3 Pro than a Redmi Note 11 series device since there are a few compromises to accommodate 5G while keeping the price low.
