According to rumors, multiple smartphones will be announced at this event, including two variants of the GT 2 Pro, which has been heralded as the company’s “most premium flagship” smartphone. Oppo Air Glass assisted reality device is like nothing we’ve seen before

Image: oppo

The Oppo Air Glass is impressive on paper. It weighs only 30g (1oz), and it features a “cutting-edge” micro LED projector that’s about as big as a coffee bean. The smart glasses work with touch and voice, as expected. But you can also use head and hand motion (with an Oppo watch) to interact with it.

The Spark Micro Projector supports 16-level and 256-level grayscale displays and an average of 1,400 nits of brightness.

A Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip powers the device. Other specs include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an antenna, and a microphone. You will need an Oppo smartphone running ColorOS 11 or later to manage the Air Glass or an Oppo smartwatch.

iPhone 14 Pro Models Rumored to Feature 48-Megapixel Camera and 8GB of RAM

Image: Macrumors

In a research note with Haitong International Securities, obtained by MacRumors, Pu said the two Pro models will be equipped with a triple-lens rear camera system with an upgraded 48-megapixel Wide lens and 12-megapixel Ultra Wide and Telephoto lenses. This lines up with information shared by TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who in April claimed that the 48-megapixel lens will support 8K video recording.

Pu also expects the iPhone 14 Pro models to be equipped with 8GB of RAM, up from 6GB for the iPhone 13 Pro models. While this rumor sounds plausible, some other iPhone 14 specs forecasted by Pu seem far less likely, such as his claim that all four iPhone 14 models will feature 120Hz displays. Back in September, display industry analyst Ross Young said the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max models will stick with 60Hz displays.

Netflix gets a big price cut in India to challenge Disney+ and Prime Video

Netflix debuted in India nearly six years, and while the streaming service has a decent-sized following in the country, it is far from the best streaming service in the region — that honor belongs to Disney+ and Prime Video.

The latest figures put Netflix at around 5 million subscribers in India, versus 17 million for Prime Video and a staggering 34 million for Disney+. The main reason for Netflix’s lackadaisical growth in India has to do with pricing; the service costs roughly the same as its U.S. counterpart, making it a non-starter for a wide swathe of Indians.

Netflix even tried with a $3 mobile-only plan with 480p streaming to entice users in India, but it hasn’t made much headway in the country. The service is now making another bold play by rolling out huge price cuts on all of its plans in the region, making India the most affordable country in the world for streaming Netflix’s vast library.

Log4j could be the most serious security threat ever seen, CISA head warns

Image: Kingston

Jen Easterly, the director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has warned the recently-revealed Log4j vulnerability was “one of the most serious” she’s seen in her entire career, “if not the most serious”.

“We expect the vulnerability to be widely exploited by sophisticated actors and we have limited time to take necessary steps in order to reduce the likelihood of damage,” Easterly explained.

Adding to the conversation was Jay Gazlay, of CISA’s vulnerability office, who said that “hundreds of millions of” endpoints were likely to be affected by the flaw.
