The Huawei Watch D will reportedly arrive alongside the Mate V on December 23

Huawei Watch D incoming with the ability to measure blood pressure

A new report suggests that the Huawei Watch D will be unveiled on December 23, which is also the date for the Mate V flip phone announcement. This report goes perfectly with the previous news about the Mate V launching on the same date.

The new rumor also confirms the initial news about the blood pressure sensor so the Watch D shapes up to be an advanced fitness tracker. As per leaked renders, it will be rectangular with two navigation buttons on the right side.

Keep in mind, though, that this date is for the Chinese announcement, so the devices will arrive later in international markets.

Xiaomi 12 Pro case renders show the back design

Image: Gizmochna

A new set of case renders obtained by Gizmochina confirms the back design of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Pro handset. The images below show a total of five cutouts for the camera bump – three for the actual cameras, one for the LED flash and one for an additional sensor, which we still know nothing about.

Interestingly, the renders seem to conflict with the case pictured yesterday – it had only four cutouts, skipping the sensor placed under the LED flash. It could be a LiDAR sensor but that’s just speculation for now.

The renders also show the power button and volume rocker on the right side and a big earpiece, which likely doubles as a secondary loudpseaker for a complete stereo sound.

Huawei Mate V foldable camera setup revealed in leaked case pictures

Image: Future

The Huawei Mate V could well be the next foldable phone to appear, with a rumored launch date of December 23, and newly leaked images supposedly showing the phone’s case suggest that it’ll continue Huawei’s  focus on camera quality.

The pictures were posted to Chinese social media platform Weibo (via GSMArena) and clearly show two large cut-outs on the back of the device – cut-outs which match the triple-lens rear camera setup of the Huawei P50.

It’s not clear how many rear cameras the Huawei Mate V is going to have on the back, but there’s plenty of room for them. Previous Huawei foldables, like the Huawei Mate X2, have also boasted some top-notch cameras alongside screens that can bend.

OnePlus was rumored in July to be working on its first Android tablet to challenge Samsung and other OEMs. A new rumor now points to the company’s plan to expand into that segment early next year.

A new report from 91mobiles, backed by information coming from tipster Mukul Sharma, claims that the OnePlus Pad will arrive in India sometime in the first half of 2022. That said, it remains unclear if the final product will carry that moniker.

The tablet is expected to make its debut in China first, where the company may unveil several models. The OnePlus Pad, on the other hand, may only be available in a single model for the Indian market.

At the moment, little is known about the upcoming tablet. The device first popped up in July, when a trademark filed with the EU Intellectual Property Office for the “OnePlus Pad” was discovered.

Samsung Galaxy S22 appears in live photos, S22 Ultra gets certified by FCC

Samsung Galaxy S22 appears in live photos, S22 Ultra gets certified at FCC
Image: Weibo

A real-life photo of the Galaxy S22 appeared on Weibo earlier today. We would’ve thought it is the S21, given the similar design if it wasn’t for the glossy back panel; the current flagship series sports a matte finish.

Meanwhile, the FCC certified the SM-S908U smartphone, which is the Galaxy S22 Ultra (also reported to be renamed Note), along with an EJ-PS908 “stylus pen”, which is obviously a new S Pen, since the model number does not match any previous Samsung products.

OnePlus Nord 2 CE specs leak reveals almost everything

Image: Android Central

OnePlus launched a stripped-down version of the popular OnePlus Nord earlier this year, dubbed the Nord CE. According to a new report from 91Mobiles, the company is planning to launch a follow-up to the Nord CE early next year.

Per the report, the OnePlus Nord 2 CE is codenamed “Ivan.” Unlike the current Nord CE, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset, the upcoming mid-ranger is tipped to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G. The 6nm chipset could be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Disappointingly, it looks like the Nord 2 CE will not bring any significant upgrades in the display department. It will apparently arrive with the same 6.4-inch AMOLED screen featuring FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

WhatsApp is making it harder for strangers to snoop on you

Image: Android Police

It looks like WhatsApp is currently working on making it harder for strangers to snoop on your online status. The messaging service started the process a few weeks ago when it allowed beta users to hide their “Last seen” status from specific contacts, but it looks like the developers want to make it harder for strangers to see when you were last online by default. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is changing the default “Last seen” visibility from “everyone” to “my contacts” on Android and iOS.

The new default behavior has also been confirmed to a Twitter user by WhatsApp support, and it looks like the service is automatically rolling it out for everyone. The change means that people and businesses who you haven’t previously chatted with won’t be able to see your status, and vice versa. While it’s always been possible to set your personal online logs to only be visible for contacts or even nobody, WhatsApp used to allow anyone to see everyone’s “Last seen” status in the past by default.

How hologram tech may soon replace video calls

When Swiss watch boss, Christoph Grainger-Herr, was unable to fly to a global trade show in China because of Covid-19 restrictions, he decided to beam in Star Trek-style instead.

Mr Grainger-Herr, the chief executive of luxury brand IWC, had been due to travel to the Watches and Wonders event in Shanghai back in April.

When that became impossible, instead, he decided to joined the show as a life-size, 3D hologram. Appearing in 4K resolution, he was able to talk to, and see and hear the people who were physically attending the event.

“We beamed him from his office in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, to the event in Shanghai,” says David Nussbaum, the boss of US holograms firm Portl.

“He did his thing, chatted to other executives, and even unveiled a new watch, all in real time. And then we beamed him out again!”

Indian PM Modi’s Twitter hacked with bitcoin tweet

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter account was hacked with a message saying India had adopted bitcoin as legal tender and would distribute it to all citizens.

The tweet was swiftly deleted and his office said the account had been very briefly compromised.

It is the second time Mr Modi’s Twitter account has been hacked.

He’s a prolific tweeter and has more than 70 million followers – the most of any world leader.

The deleted tweet from his main @narendramodi handle said the Indian government had officially bought 500 bitcoin and was “and distributing them to all residents of the country”.

Last year, his account was hacked and a tweet sent out urging people to donate to a fake Covid relief fund.

The latest hack comes as India prepares to crack down on a booming cryptocurrency trade, with a new law likely to be put before parliament this month.

Mr Modi himself said last month that cryptocurrencies could “spoil our youth”.
