Leaked images show upcoming Garmin Fenix 7 and Venu 2 Plus smartwatches

Image: Winfuture

A trove of leaked images shows what Garmin’s upcoming 2022 smartwatch lineup may look like. A report by German technology site Winfuture shows the supposed images of the Garmin Fenix 7 series, Venu 2 Plus, Epix Gen2, and Instinct 2 series smartwatches.

The post shows that the Fenix 7 series may consist of three models: the standard Fenix 7, 7S, and 7X, all of which are rumored to be made of both reinforced plastic and stainless steel. At least one model will carry over the built-in solar panel from the top-end Fenix 6 that charges the device while you’re wearing it, while others will include the familiar tracking features. It appears that the base model will only come in black, while the Fenix 7S may have an all-white variation, as well as an option that has a rose gold frame with an off-white band. Winfuture doesn’t provide any additional details on the rumored 7X.

vivo S12 Pro to bring dual front-facing LED flashes

vivo S12 Pro
Image: Vivo

The brand posted a short video teaser on its Weibo page, revealing selfies will be further improved with two LED lights. That’s right – vivo is putting two flashes at the front of the S12 Pro, which will be embedded into the thin bezel on top.

One of the front cameras will have a 50MP sensor, and we expect the second to be an 8MP ultrawide shooter, inherited from the vivo S10 series. The company advertises the front to have “four soft lights”, which in reality means the dual-LED flashes will be dual-toned. It also promised more surprises to come.

Specs-wise we are still having a tough time learning anything new. According to rumors, the S12 Pro will be powered by a Dimensity 1200 chipset and will have a 6.5” OLED at the front. The battery is expected to be around 4,200-4,300 mAh, and while 44W fast-charging is expected, we would love to see vivo bring its 55W standard to the S series.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra could get more detailed 108MP shots with this new mode

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra camera
Image: Android Authority

Samsung has been using a 108MP camera on its top-end Galaxy Ultra phones since 2020’s Galaxy S20 Ultra, delivering both pixel-binned 12MP shots for reduced noise and full-resolution 108MP snaps for increased detail.

Now, Korea-based outlet Material IT Korea (h/t: SamMobile) has claimed that the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra will gain a so-called ‘detail enhancer’ feature for its 108MP camera. This source previously dished out Galaxy S22 wallpapers, so it seems to have some credibility regarding S22-related leaks.

In any event, the outlet apparently unearthed strings referencing the new feature, with one string confirming that the mode will allow you to “capture even more detail.” It’s believed that the function will only be available when the 108MP shooting option is chosen, but when would you want to use it?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 4G acquires certificates ahead of global launch

Image: EEC

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 4G was launched in China as a cheaper alternative to its 5G namesake, and now a device with the same moniker is being certified for global sales. The company received approval from at least two authorities – IMDA in Singapore and the EEC, which is the overseeing organization for several markets in the Eurasian Economic Area.

According to our tipsters, this new Redmi Note 11 4G phone will have a Snapdragon 680 chipset. It is highly unlikely to get relaunched with the Helio G88 platform since the very same phone is sold in multiple countries under the name Redmi 10 (with one extra 2 MP camera). Other changes might be the memory combinations, which are always different for different markets.

If all the specs sans the fourth camera remain the same, we should expect a 6.5” LCD, 50 MP main cam and a massive 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging and some reverse wired charging as well. The Chinese Redmi Note 11 4G costs no more than $170/€155, so it is fair to say the global variant won’t cost over $250/€200 after all the tariffs and taxes are applied.

This upcoming Android phone will feature the world’s first 150-degree phone camera

Image: Future

The upcoming Realme GT 2 and GT 2 Pro weren’t unveiled at today’s launch from the company, but it did give us a glimpse at some of the features we can expect, including some camera upgrades.

Realme revealed that its upcoming phone series will feature the first smartphone with a 150-degree ultra-wide camera. It will also feature a fisheye mode that means you can play with the depth of field effect on the camera.

That’s a higher field of view than we’ve seen on most other smartphone cameras. For example, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra had a notable 128-degree field of view on its wide angle camera in 2021, so this is a big step up from that.

iQOO U5 details revealed through store listing

iQOO U5 details revealed through store listing, company shares Neo5S camera sample
Image: Weibo

Even though the iQOO U5 is still unreleased, it appeared on the popular Chinese web store, JD Mall. The listing reveals quite a bit of detail and, of course, the design too. Pre-orders start on December 24 so an actual release should be in order before that date.

The handset is running a Snapdragon 695 SoC with 6GB/128GB base memory and sports a 120Hz display. A 5,000 mAh battery powers the whole thing.

The camera bump on the back has a typical vivo-like appearance and houses a 50MP main camera and 8MP secondary one (probably ultrawide).

LG announces its first gaming laptop, and it packs an NVIDIA RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU

Image: LG

LG announced a new UltraGear gaming laptop today. The model number of the new device is 17G90Q, but LG simply calls it the LG UltraGear gaming laptop in its press release. The new piece of hardware from LG has high-end specs that can compete with the best gaming laptops.

With an 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics inside, the UltraGear gaming laptop should be able to handle the best PC games as well as any competitor. It has a 17-inch display with a 1 ms response time and a 300 Hz refresh rate.

While not as light as the LG gram lineup, The UltraGear gaming laptop takes inspiration from the company’s slimmer laptops. The UltraGear gaming laptop is under 21.4 mm thick and weighs less than 2.7 kg. Some of that weight is due to the 93Wh battery inside the UltraGear gaming laptop.

Kuo: iPhone 14 Pro to Feature 48-Megapixel Camera, Periscope Lens Coming 2023

Image: Macrumors

Apple plans to add a 48-megapixel camera lens to the iPhone next year, followed by a periscope lens in 2023, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a research note today with TF International Securities, obtained by MacRumors, Kuo said these iPhone camera upgrades over the next two years will help to boost Taiwanese manufacturer Largan Precision’s market share, revenue, and profit.

Kuo did not provide any further details, but he has previously claimed that the 48-megapixel camera will be limited to iPhone 14 Pro models and allow for 8K video recording, up from 4K currently. These high-resolution 8K videos would be suitable for viewing on Apple’s AR/VR headset that is expected to launch next year, he said.

Woman Gives Birth in Tesla While It’s Driving on Autopilot

Tesla will ship a “full self-driving” car in a beta version.

A couple nearly changed their baby’s middle name to “Tess,” which would’ve been very appropriate given that baby Maeve Lily Sherry was born in the backseat of the family’s Tesla in September.

First reported this week by the Philadelphia Inquirer , mom Yiran Sherry, 33, and dad Keating Sherry, 34, were on their way to the hospital while Yiran was having contractions. But the couple arrived minutes too late, and Maeve was born while the Tesla drove on Autopilot, with Keating keeping on hand on the wheel and one hand in Yiran’s. Keating said he was also trying to comfort the couple’s 3-year old, Rafa, who was also in the car.

“She was squeezing my hand to the point where I thought she was going to shatter it,” Keating told the Inquirer. “I was [saying to] Yiran: OK, focus on your breathing. That was advice to myself, as well. My adrenaline was pumping. I said, ‘Rafa, everything’s fine. Your baby sister is arriving.’”
