The tablet was first teased in December, but now a Lenovo executive has shared more details in a post on the social media platform Weibo (via Liliputing). The Lenovo Legion Y700 is an 8.8-inch tablet, with a display resolution of 2560 x 1600 and an LCD panel with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. The screen also supposedly has a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, which would put it in the very small group of tablets with high refresh rate displays — such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Apple iPad Pro.

Lenovo also says the tablet will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, JBL speakers, and support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio. The photos seem to indicate at least one USB Type-C port and a single rear camera. There are also some unique software features in the works, like an option to change a game’s aspect ratio to 21:9 (creating black bars at the top and bottom) to match what you might get from a typical Android gaming phone.

Motorola announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Edge X30, back in December for the Chinese market, and now it seems like the phone is finally on its way to other countries. And one of the countries it’s going to launch in is India.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has certified the Motorola Edge X30 for sale in the Indian market with the model number XT2201-01. Usually this certification is acquired a few weeks before a new device’s release, and rumor has it the Edge X30 will be officially presented in the subcontinent either in late January or early February.

Moto G Stylus (2022) specs leak

Moto G Stylus (2022) leaked image

Motorola is working on a Moto G Stylus (2022) and this model just keeps on leaking. We’ve already seen it in leaked renders last month, and today a pretty complete spec list has been outed. Let’s see what we can expect.

According to the source, the Moto G Stylus (2022) will have a 6.78-inch 1080×2460 IPS LCD touchscreen with 90 Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, paired with 4 or 6GB of RAM (depending on model) and 128 GB of expandable storage.

On the rear the phone has three cameras: a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 main, an 8 MP Samsung ISOCELL ultrawide, and a 2 MP depth sensor. For selfies you get a 16 MP fixed focus shooter probably made by Omnivision.

The Moto G Stylus (2022) has a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W charging, unsurprisingly a stylus (which can be docked inside the device), a fingerprint sensor in the power button, a single bottom-firing speaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack – but apparently no NFC nor dual-SIM support.

The iPhone 14 Is Unlikely to Be Portless, Here’s Why

Image: Apple

Ever since Apple removed the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 in 2016, rumors have swirled that Apple eventually aims to ditch the Lightning port next for a completely portless design. Indeed, analysts originally predicted that the highest-end ‌‌iPhone‌‌ 13 would offer a “completely wireless experience.” Of course, that didn’t happen, but a portless iPhone 14 in 2022 looks just as unlikely, for the following reasons.
Apple’s longtime goal has been to design an ‌‌iPhone‌‌ with no external ports or buttons for a clean, streamlined device, but significant hurdles still remain if it intends to provide a completely wireless charging and data transfer solution. As far as data is concerned, Apple would need to look beyond Bluetooth because of its bandwidth limitations and rely on a faster wireless protocol that allows iPhone data transfer at a speed that either matches or exceeds Lightning, otherwise the loss of the port would be seen as a backward step.

Wi-Fi 6 gets an upgrade with Release 2, promising better upload performance

The Wi-Fi Alliance wants you to look for the Wi-Fi 6 logo.
Image: Stephen Shankland/CNET

2019 saw the debut of 802.11ax, or Wi-Fi 6, the newest and fastest version of the Wi-Fi standard. Now, three years later, that standard is getting upgraded to support more robust uploads and better power efficiency, which is key for battery-powered Wi-Fi devices, particularly in IoT applications.

Called Wi-Fi 6 Release 2 and announced this week during CES 2022, the upgrade builds upon the foundation set by the original release of Wi-Fi 6 by adding in new features that developers can choose to take advantage of. The new features are supported across all Wi-Fi bands — 2.4, 5 and the 6GHz band that comes with Wi-Fi 6E — and you can expect those features to start making their way into new Wi-Fi devices released later this year. According to a spokesperson for the Wi-Fi Alliance, the industry group that announced the release, some devices already on the market might be equipped to take advantage of them, as well.

Nvidia could spring a surprise GPU launch next week

Image: Nvidia

Nvidia revealed a pair of new desktop graphics cards at CES 2022 – the RTX 3090 Ti and the RTX 3050, covering both the high and low-end of the Ampere spectrum – but another RTX 3000 series GPU is imminent, according to the grapevine.

Sources who Wccftech has spoken to claim that a third new desktop GPU is set to arrive imminently in the form of a new spin on the existing RTX 3080 which ups the video RAM from 10GB to 12GB (GDDR6X).

Not only that, but the new version of the 3080 will supposedly have a slight increase in CUDA core count, bumping it to 8,960 (as opposed to 8,704 cores in the existing model). As well as a couple of hundred more cores, the refreshed GPU could run with a 350W TDP (as opposed to 320W currently, so again, a slight bump).

All of this info is leakage that should be treated with plenty of caution, naturally, as is Wccftech’s further assertion that the RTX 3080 12GB was planned for a reveal at CES, but that was pushed back to January 11.

So in theory – condiments aplenty – this card will be unveiled in just a few days, and pre-orders could go live straightaway, or we might even see the GPU available to buy on the same day (although the latter seems unlikely to us). There are no whispers as to where pricing might be pitched.

Signing in to your YouTube account on smart TVs can prove unwieldy if you’re left with no other choice but to use the on-screen keyboard. Fortunately, YouTube added a sign-in option using a web browser, but a new option makes that process much easier.

YouTube has added a new feature that allows you to sign in to your YouTube account on your smart TV without having to use the virtual keyboard on the screen. You only need to approve the login attempt on your smartphone. This eliminates the need to manually enter your email address and password.

PayPal has been expanding its cryptocurrency business since it opened trading to all users in 2020. It allowed US customers to check out with cryptocurrency and increased its crypto buy limit over the past year. In the future, it might also offer a stablecoin of its own. Jose Fernandez da Ponte, SVP of crypto and digital currencies at PayPal, has confirmed to Bloomberg that the online payment provider is “exploring a stablecoin.” He also said that the company will work closely with relevant regulators “if and when [it] seek[s] to move forward.”

Tesla will hike prices on self-driving mode, again

Tesla’s “full self-driving” (FSD) feature has had something of a rocky history, to put things generously. It’s been implicated in multiple crashes, seemingly persistent software bugs and a cavalcade of scrutiny from a panoply of regulatory bodies. Also, it’s about to cost more money.

The bump represents an additional $2,000 being tacked onto the not insubstantial price tag: a new grand total of $12,000, or most of the way to a Honda Civic. Nor is it the first time FSD has gotten more expensive. In 2020, Musk (again, on Twitter) announced a roughly $2,000 price increase. This most recent hike, Musk clarified, will only apply in the US; he added that the feature’s “price will rise as we get closer to FSD production code release.”
