Samsung announced the Galaxy S22 series last week, and the S22 Ultra follows in the Note’s footsteps by offering a dedicated S Pen slot. Now, a Korean news outlet has reported that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable could follow suit.

The Elec reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will indeed have an S Pen slot, citing unnamed sources. This isn’t the first time a Samsung foldable had support for the stylus, as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 supported S Pen input as well. But it would mark the first time that a foldable packs an S Pen slot too.

The outlet’s sources say that Samsung is expecting the addition of an S Pen slot on the Z Fold 4 to be a major “selling point.” Furthermore, it’s claimed that the upcoming foldable will have a 7.56-inch main screen and a 6.19-inch external display, roughly in line with the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Apple to Unveil 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro With Unchanged Design Next Month, Claims Original MacBook Pro ‘Notch’ Leaker

Image: Apple

Apple will next month debut its latest M2 Apple silicon processor in a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro model that will have no major design changes, according to a previously reliable source with close links to Apple’s supply chain.
Based on the new information seen by MacRumors, the upcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro retains the same design as the current version, including the Touch Bar, but unlike the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, it will not have a notch or a ProMotion display, contrary to some rumors.

If so, that means the headline difference in the new entry-level MacBook Pro model will be the new M2 chip, which features the same number of CPU cores as the ‌M1 processor‌, up to 10 graphics cores, and improved performance.

The above details were relayed by the original source of last year’s last-minute MacBook Pro notch rumor that MacRumors was first to report on. In October 2021, we reported that the same leaker said the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models would have a redesigned display with a central notch for the webcam, but no Face ID.

ASUS finally brings the ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro to the Indian market
Image: Asus

ASUS refreshed its ROG Phone 5 gaming smartphone lineup in August last year with two new models — the ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro. The updated devices featured minor improvements over the original ROG Phone 5 models, including the Snapdragon 888+ chipset and 360Hz touch response rate. At the time, ASUS launched the devices in China and Taiwan only. However, the company did share plans to bring the phones to more markets soon. As promised, the ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro went on sale in the US and Europe in November, and they are now finally making their way over to the Indian market.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro will go on sale in India starting February 18 via Flipkart. The ROG Phone 5s will be available in two RAM/storage configurations, with the 8GB+128GB variant priced at ₹49,999 and the 12GB+256GB variant priced at ₹57,999. Two Black Shark 5 models appear on TENAA

Image: Gsmarena

The Black Shark 5 series is expected to arrive soon – traditionally Xiaomi launched its first gaming phones of the year in March. Two devices, reportedly the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro, popped up on TENAA, revealing key specs and details.

The most important change will be a new chip for the Pro variant, as well as a better main camera.

The Black Shark 5 Pro has a model number KTUS-A0 and while TENAA does not reveal the actual chipset, the 3.0GHz CPU is likely from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. RAM is listed as 8/12/16 GB, while storage is 256GB or 512GB.

We expect a 108MP main camera, while the front-facing cam has a 13MP, which notably is lower than the Black Shark 4’s 20MP camera. The battery has 4,650mAh capacity and we expect it to keep the 120W fast charging from the predecessors.

The Black Shark 5 is listed with a 3.2 GHz CPU, which is very likely the year-old Snapdragon 870 chipset. It comes with a 64MP main camera and 8GB or 12GB RAM.

Storage is again 128GB or 256GB and the battery capacity (4,650mAh) is also shared between the upcoming phones.

The phones are yet to be launched, and during the event, we hope to learn just how much Tencent is involved with the gaming brand after the acquisition in January.

Poco F4 GT bags a bunch of certifications, will have 4,560 mAh battery

Redmi K50 Gaming (aka Poco F4 GT outside of China)
Image: Redmi

The upcoming Poco F4 GT has been spotted by an inquisitive tipster in a bunch of places getting its certifications ready before launch: FCC, IMEI, EEC, and TUV. All of these certifications reveal that the phone will launch running MIUI 13 out of the box, unsurprisingly as that’s the latest iteration of Xiaomi’s skin (which Poco also uses).

Further, the F4 GT will have a 4,560 mAh battery divided in two cells, which means support for some type of fast charging is in tow. There’s also Hi-Res Audio, and the box contains the phone, a charging brick, USB-C cable, SIM ejector tool, a bundled case, and a Type-C to 3.5mm audio adapter – so no headphone jack on the device then.

The Poco F4 GT’s model number is 21121210G, and if you were expecting this phone to be sold under a different name somewhere, you were probably right. The “G” at the end stands for “global” in Xiaomi-land, while “C” is for “China market”. And guess what? There’s also a 21121210C doing the rounds in the rumorsphere, and this is most likely to launch as the Redmi K50 Gaming. That the same device would be sold under these two names is very unsurprising, considering that the exact same thing happened last year, when the Poco F3 GT was known as the Redmi K40 Gaming in China.

The Poco F4 GT’s certifications haven’t revealed any other details, but Redmi already revealed that the K50 Gaming is coming with Sony’s 64 MP IMX686 sensor for its main rear camera, while on the front, inside a centered punch-hole will reside the 20 MP Sony IMX596. Other confirmed features include an FHD+ OLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, 480 Hz touch sampling, and Gorilla Glass Victus on top. There will be at least two color versions – silver and blue. The K50 Gaming will be announced on February 16, so perhaps the Poco F4 GT’s unveiling isn’t far off.

This 5G neckband from Motorola could make XR glasses less bulky

Image: Motorola

Motorola has a new wearable 5G neckband that is designed to power lightweight VR and AR headsets (collectively known as XR headsets) such as parent company Lenovo’s ThinkReality A3 smart glasses, the company announced today. The neckband looks a lot like a large plastic lanyard, and is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a 5,000mAh battery, a touchpad, SIM card slot, speakers, and a range of sensors including a gyroscope and accelerometer, Engadget reports. Motorola says it’s partnered with Verizon on the neckband, which is able to connect to the carrier’s mmWave 5G network.

The idea is that the neckband, which Motorola doesn’t provide an official product name for, will be able to act as the brains and brawn for a connected VR or AR headset. By offloading components like a powerful processor and heavy battery, the headset itself can become lighter and more comfortable to wear. For example, Lenovo’s ThinkReality A3 smart glasses are generally designed to be powered by laptops, but using them with a neckband could make them far more portable, similar to attempts to power AR and VR headsets using smartphones.

Benchmark leaks offer a glimpse at Intel Sapphire Rapids performance

Image: Intel

After being delayed last summer, we’ve now been given an idea of how Intel’s upcoming Sapphire Rapids processors will compare against its own Ice Lake Xeon Platinum 8380 and AMD’s EPYC 7773X (Milan-X) chips.

As reported by Tom’s Hardware, hardware leaker YuuKi-AnS tested the three processors in dual-socket configurations and posted the benchmark results on Twitter.

Intel’s upcoming Sapphire Rapids line has a multi-chip design with EMIB connections and comes out of the chipmaker’s rebranded 10nm Enhanced Superfin node. These new Xeon server chips are compatible with the LGA4677 (Socket E) socket and leverage the company’s Golden Cove cores.

At the same time, Intel’s Sapphire Rapids chips will support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5. Each processor will also have up to four Ultra Path Interconnect (UPI) 2.0 links to connect with other processors on multi-socket motherboards. The chipmaker’s latest processor reportedly has 48 cores, 96 threads and 90MB of L3 cache. The engineering sample chip reviewed by YuuKi-AnS has a 2.3 GHz base clock, a 3.3 GHz boost clock and 270W TDP.
