This is what the Apple Watch Series 7 looks like in real life

Image: Leak

One of the more intriguing aspects of the Apple Watch Series 7 is that it will reportedly boast a new design. Apple hasn’t tinkered with the Apple Watch form factor all that much, so a new design will be exciting to see.

Based on various leaks, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 7 will have flatter edges. In effect, the new Apple Watch will borrow some of the iPhone 12’s design language. While flatter edges will be a nice change of pace, the tradeoff is that the casing itself may be a bit thicker.

Recently, someone took purported Apple Watch Series 7 CAD drawings and created an Apple Watch clone. While there’s no way to know for sure how accurate these models are, keep in mind that leaks tend to become more accurate as we steadily approach an Apple event.

More evidence that Google’s foldable Pixel Fold phone is real

Pixel Fold

In early August, Google unveiled two new Pixel phones, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro that had already appeared in plenty of leaks. Google confirmed the design leaks and took advantage of this soft-launch event to unveil its Tensor SoC for mobile phones. The company also alleviated our most significant concern in the process.

The Pixel series will return to flagship status with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro after last year’s Pixel 5 misstep. But the company left many things unsaid, including release dates and prices. That info will come later this year at Google’s fall press conference.

That’s also where Google’s first-gen Pixel Fold might be unveiled. Or teased, at least. And now, we have more evidence that the Pixel Fold is indeed real: A 5G deal between Samsung and Google.

If you’re a parent in China struggling to get your child away from online games, a new notice may help your cause. According to a report from that country, children under 18 now face steep limitations of when and how long they can play online games.

Per state-affiliated publication Xinhua, minors can only play online games between 8 PM and 9 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The notice stems from China’s National Press and Publication Administration to reduce minors’ addiction to online games. Notably, the onus isn’t on parents to keep kids away from their favorite titles. Instead, online game providers like Tencent and NetEase are tasked with providing real-name registration details to keep tabs on their users.

Leakster: the Xiaomi 12 will have a triple 50MP camera with a 5x periscope

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra's camera setup: 50+48+48 MP
Image: Xiaomi

Xiaomi got a lot of use out of various 108 MP sensors in the last three years, including featuring one on the Mi 11 and Mix 4. However, the ultra wide and telephoto modules continued to use fairly low resolution sensors, often in the 8-13 MP range.

For the Xiaomi 12 generation (remember, no more ‘Mi’), the company will use a triple 50 MP setup, according to leakster Digital Chat Station. This means 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto cameras.

This last one will allegedly use a 5x periscope. Xiaomi is said to have a working 10x periscope, but that focal length is impractical – the 5x lens coupled with a high resolution sensor can provide smooth, high quality zoom in the 5x to 10x range.

iPhone 13 Feature
Image: BGR

The iPhone 13 keynote could drop on September 14th, and the launch would be September 24th in this case. Whatever the dates might be, Apple should soon announce the iPhone 13 launch. But while you wait, there’s a last-minute iPhone 13 leak that’s more exciting than your regular iPhone rumor. An insider claims the iPhone 13 will get a feature unavailable on any Android flagship: Support for text and calls via a satellite connection.

Most iPhone 13 rumors refer to the phone’s design and new hardware features. The iPhone 13 will deliver a few significant design changes, despite resembling the iPhone 12 series.

There’s a smaller notch, and the rear camera modules are getting thicker and larger. Finally, the iPhone 13 models are all getting slightly thicker to accommodate slightly larger batteries. These are the “boring” iPhone features that most rumors address regularly.

Qualcomm’s new mobile shows power isn’t everything for gaming phones

Image: Future

In early July, smartphone component maker Qualcomm unveiled its new Android phone, made in collaboration with Asus. The Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders – that’s literally the name, we’re not using some bizarre synonym – costs a princely $1,499 / £1,099 (roughly AU$2,020), but justifies its price in a few key ways.

The phone acts as a showcase for many of Qualcomm’s technologies: it uses the top-end Snapdragon 888 chipset, comes with earbuds that use Snapdragon Sound tech, uses the company’s fast-charging tech, and utilizes some camera features designed by the company too.

The Mi Notebook 14 series was the first Xiaomi laptop to launch in India, and now Xiaomi has followed it up with the Mi Notebook Ultra and Mi Notebook Pro. I got my hands on the Mi Notebook Ultra, the most powerful laptop Xiaomi has launched in India yet, in the highest spec’d trim.

While Xiaomi did release a RedmiBook Pro laptop very recently, it was a middling budget-friendly Redmi brand. The Mi Notebook Ultra promises a lot more, but can it sway people away from the regular laptop brands that rule the segment?
