Motorola just released the Motorola Edge Plus in the United States, which is called the Motorola Edge 30 Pro in the rest of the world. Not only are the different names confusing, but the ‘Pro’ or ‘Plus’ would indicate there is a normal Edge phone… which is currently not the case. However, leaks have indicated a regular Motorola Edge 30 is on the way, and now real-life photos of the phone have appeared.

A listing on Idle Fish, the used goods marketplace owned by Alibaba (comparable to eBay), includes what might be the first real-life photos of the Motorola Edge 30. An image of the bootloader states a model number of XT2203-1, which matches previous leaks for the phone. The bootloader image also reveals 128GB of internal storage, 8GB of RAM, and a CPU type of ‘SM_KODIAK’ — an unspecified Snapdragon chipset, possibly the Snapdragon 778G Plus.

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 might already be in testing

Image: Nvidia

There have been plenty of rumors surrounding the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, and this new batch allegedly reveals that Nvidia has begun testing its next-gen AD102 GPU, which is expected to power the GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.

The flagship AD102 GPU, which is built on Nvidia’s Lovelace architecture, will be used to power cards such as the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. According to reliable Twitter leaker Kopite7kimi, the cards will feature a 24 Gbps GDDR6X memory die, and will stick to the GeForce RTX 40-series naming convention instead of being rebranded as the 50-series, as some reports have suggested.

Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Nvidia, so make sure to take it all with a grain of salt.

Intel is reportedly preparing 16-core Alder Lake HX laptop processors

Intel is reportedly preparing 16-core Alder Lake HX laptop processors

Intel could have a couple of big additions coming to its Alder Lake lineup of mobile processors. The new processors are reportedly part of the new Intel Alder Lake HX series of processors, building on top of the existing H series, and they come with up to a whopping 16 cores and 24 threads, just like Intel’s desktop offerings. For reference, the existing H-series chips max out with 14 cores and 20 threads.

The information, first reported by Chinese website ITHome, comes from an ad for Dell’s Precision 7770 and 7670 workstations, which will apparently be powered by these new chips. In total, there are 5 new chips, starting with a Core i5-12600HX and going all the way to the Core i9-12950HX. Most of the processors have 16 cores and 24 threads, except the Core i5 model, which sticks to 12 cores and 16 threads, similar to the existing Core i5-12600H.

It’s also said that these new processors have an increased TDP of 55W, compared to the 45W of the regular H series. However, it’s not currently known how much power they can draw during peak loads, though it should be a lot more than that. The H-series models can use as much as 115W.

While the specs are unconfirmed, we have a pretty good picture of what these new CPUs might look like performance-wise. Most of the specs were found in the Dell ad, but base clocks were provided by the well-known Twitter leaker @momomo_us.

The latest leak of Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch shows off a familiar design

Image: Evan Blass / 91Mobiles

We’ve been hearing rumors about Google’s Pixel Watch for years now, but it does finally seem like pieces for the project are finally falling into place. A purported render of the device shared by Evan Blass over at 91Mobiles lines up with past leaks and rumors, showing a device with a familiar circular design, physical crown, and Fitbit integration.

Of course, there’s also a lot missing from the render. The image doesn’t include the watch’s lugs (which would show how the strap will connect to the face) or give any idea of its overall build. If the image looks a bit funny, though, it’s perhaps because of the watch’s rumored bezel-less design (also seen in mock-up renders shared last year by Jon Prosser).

Interestingly, though, we have seen a smartwatch design that looks like this from Google before: the LG Watch Style, which LG designed in conjunction with the tech giant and released in 2017 to show off Android Wear 2.0. It has the same simplicity of lines and crown placement — though, of course, we’d hope for a much slimmer look five years on.

iPhone users have been asking Apple to move the iPhone from Lightning to USB-C for years. But Apple has resisted. And every year, we get the same rumors claiming the next-gen device might be the first to ditch Lightning. The first iPhone 14 USB-C rumors dropped months ago, claiming that Apple was considering replacing Lightning. Like every year, we should know better than to expect such a massive change.

A brand new report from an Apple leaker says the company will not make the switch to USB-C for the iPhone 14, surprising no one. However, the report also delivers some great news for those iPhone users who want faster transfer speeds from the iPhone. The Lightning connector will support USB 3.0 speeds on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 to bring 108MP main camera

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 rumored to bring 108MP main cam
Image: Gsmarena

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 is expected to bring some major camera improvements and reliable tipster Dohyun Kim believes the foldable’s main camera will get upgraded to a 108MP sensor. Naturally, some began to wonder if the camera module will be the same one used in the Galaxy S22 Ultra (1/2.55″ ISOCELL HM3 sensor).

This is where another tipster @chunvn8888 chimed in saying the setup on the Z Fold4 will be nearly identical to the S22U apart from the 10MP periscope sensor. This means we should expect the same 12MP ultrawide and 12MP 3x telephoto modules from the flagship Galaxy S phone on the upcoming foldable. Recent rumors also predict a selfie cam upgrade to 10MP from the Z Fold3’s 4MP shooter.

Galaxy Z Fold4 is expected to pack the yet to be announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset, a thinner and lighter body compared to its predecessor and no holster for the S Pen.

Kuo doubles down on ‘high-end’ iPhone 16 models with under-display Face ID

While rumors about the iPhone 14 lineup are finally heating up, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is already aiming at the 2024 iPhone models, most likely the iPhone 16 series. In a tweet posted early today, the analyst doubles down on predictions that under-display Face ID coming to the high-end versions of this upcoming phone.

A few weeks ago, Kuo had corroborated with analyst Ross Young about under-display Face ID coming to the iPhone 16 series. At the time, the analyst said under-display Face ID would come to the iPhone 16 and that ”this time, schedule is less of a technical issue and more of a marketing purpose.”

As of now, rumors believe the iPhone 14 will feature a new hole punch + pill design for the Pro models, while the entire iPhone 15 series would follow this new design a year later.

Netflix hints at password sharing crackdown as subscribers fall

The number of households using the streaming service fell by 200,000 in the first three months of the year as it faced stiff competition from rivals.

It was also hit after it raised prices in some countries and left Russia.

Netflix warned shareholders another two million subscribers were likely to leave in the three months to July.

“Our revenue growth has slowed considerably,” the firm told shareholders on Tuesday after publishing its first quarter results.

“Our relatively high household penetration – when including the large number of households sharing accounts – combined with competition, is creating revenue growth headwinds.”

But on Tuesday, Mr Hastings said it was making it hard to attract new subscribers in some countries.

“When we were growing fast, it wasn’t a high priority to work on [account sharing]. And now we’re working super hard on it,” he told shareholders.

The firm said payment plans it is testing to curb password sharing in Latin America could be rolled out to other countries.

Since last month, account holders in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru must pay to add user profiles for people outside their household (the company currently allows people who live together to share their Netflix account).

Users can add up to two extra profiles for $2-$3 (£1.53-£2.30) a month each, on top of their regular fee.

Netflix – which did not say how it would enforce the rule – said it was seeking a “customer centric” solution.

“The principle way we have is asking our members to pay a bit more to share the service outside their homes,” said Greg Peters, Netflix’s chief product officer.

Dominic Sunnebo, an analyst at research firm Kantar, warned the plan could backfire at a time when consumers were looking for ways to save money.

“If the schemes to counter password sharing move too fast and too aggressively, it also risks alienating a potential future audience – many who password-share beyond the household are not actually aware they’re breaking the terms of their subscription.”
