Poco M4 Pro 5G gets a bunch of certifications on its way to becoming official

Poco M3 Pro 5G

Xiaomi’s “independent” sub-brand Poco released the M3 Pro 5G back in May, and it’s apparently almost ready to be done with that model and replace it with something better. The successor will unsurprisingly be called Poco M4 Pro 5G, and today a bunch of various certifications for it have surfaced.

These, first of all, confirm that name – it’s going to be called Poco M4 Pro 5G. Then its model number: 21091116AG. That “G” at the end signifies that this model is meant for global markets, not China, by the way.

Honor’s breakup with Huawei opened new opportunities for the company, including regaining access to Google Play Services. Now, the smartphone manufacturer appears poised to take on its former parent company as well as the other tech behemoths in the foldable phone segment.

According to a post on Weibo, Honor plans to unveil its own foldable device before the end of 2021 (via GSMArena). The company was first rumored to be dabbling in the foldable space earlier this year with a device called the Honor Magic Fold, which was supposedly set to debut in 2020 if the pandemic hadn’t occurred.

Apple AirPods 3 could still be launching before the end of 2021

Image: Techradar

Where are the long-awaited AirPods 3? We were expecting them to show up alongside the iPhone 13 in September, but there was no mention of the upgraded wireless earbuds. According to industry insiders though, they could still launch before the end of 2021.

That’s as per information obtained by DigiTimes (via MacRumors), and considering how long we’ve already been waiting for the AirPods 3, it seems plausible that Apple is indeed planning to unveil them before the year is out.

Students of AirPod history will know that the second generation earbuds were launched into the world in March 2019, which by our reckoning makes the successors overdue at this point – even with the global pandemic interrupting production schedules.

Video shows it’s possible to replace an iPhone 13 screen and not lose Face ID

Last week, 9to5Mac reported that Face ID stops working if you replace the iPhone 13 screen with a third-party repair. Now, a new video shows that it’s possible to replace the screen and make facial recognition work, but it’s not simple.

When we covered the original Phone Repair Guru video, he said that even when you replace your iPhone 13 screen for another original display, a message saying “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple display” appeared.

He then suggested that there are some workarounds like other parts to the new screen, but that most repair shops wouldn’t do that because it’s “too sophisticated.”

With that in mind, iCorrect, a UK third-party repair shop, proved that it’s possible to replace the iPhone 13 screen without losing Face ID, but, indeed, it’s a very sophisticated process.

Bad actors were able to infiltrate the accounts of and steal cryptocurrency from around 6,000 Coinbase customers by exploiting a multi-factor authentication flaw, according to Bleeping Computer. The cryptocurrency exchange told the publication that its security team observed a large-scale phishing campaign targeting its users between April and early May 2021. Some users may have fallen victim to the malicious emails, giving hackers access to their usernames and passwords. Worse, even those who had multi-factor authentication switched on were compromised because of a flaw in the exchange’s system.
