After several delays over the past few months, the OnePlus 9RT and the OnePlus Buds Z2 have finally made their way to India. The OnePlus 9RT is an affordable flagship phone that succeeds the OnePlus 9R and was launched in China late last year. Along with the phone, OnePlus has launched the second iteration of its budget-oriented wireless earbuds — the OnePlus Buds Z2. With the OnePlus 10 Pro being the only top-end flagship from the brand currently, the OnePlus 9RT is more like a stopgap replacement to the vanilla OnePlus 10, until that arrives of course.

Realme was forced to postpone the Realme 9 series launch last year due to the global chip shortage, opting for a 2022 launch instead. The company has been mum on details about the new phones, but veteran leaker Steve ‘OnLeaks’ Hemmerstoffer and SmartPrix have now dished out apparent Realme 9 Pro renders and specs.

Hemmerstoffer also revealed some apparent specs too, claiming the phone has a 6.59-inch 120Hz display with an in-display fingerprint sensor (presumably OLED, then), a Snapdragon 695 SoC, 6GB to 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging.

The Realme 9 Pro is also tipped to arrive with a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide lens, and 2MP shooter. Meanwhile, a 16MP camera is expected to handle selfies.

Oppo’s tablet has been rumored throughout the second half of 2021 but more recent evidence points to an imminent launch. The most recent report saw the tablet pass through 3C certification with support for 33W fast charging. Now, the unreleased tablet (OPD2101) has been spotted on Geekbench 4’s database.

The benchmark contains the same model number as that of the 3C certification. In the benchmark it’s listed that the device is running Android 11 and 6GB of RAM. There’s also mention of “kona” and clock speeds of up to 3.19GHz – indicating the tablet will indeed be powered by the Snapdragon 870 as previously rumored.

Good news on Steam Deck launch date – it’s still on target for February 2022

Valve has offered up another assurance that the Steam Deck is set to ship on time, by the end of next month.

The company wrote a January update which stated: “First and foremost, we’re on track to ship Steam Deck on time. Global pandemic, supply issues, and shipping issues notwithstanding, it looks like we’ll be able to start getting these out the door by the end of February.”

Valve also noted that production is ‘ramping up’ and shared a photo (see above) of some of the initial batch of handhelds which the firm has received to test in-house (“they’re looking great” according to the post). Also, Valve said that another wave of dev kits is going out to game developers now, on top of the ‘hundreds’ which have already been shipped for testing duties.

The developer of PUBG is suing Garena, Apple, Google and YouTube over Free Fire

PUBG vs Free Fire

PUBG gets counted as one of the most popular online shooter games in the past few years, and it has had a great impact on the gaming scene for both desktop and mobile. In addition to fuelling competitive e-sports, PUBG also gets some credit for popularizing the online multiplayer battle royale genre. Many other franchises have since dipped their own toes in the genre after seeing PUBG’s success with it. PUBG’s unfortunate ban in India also left a hole, that others have swooped to capitalize on before PUBG could rectify the situation. Now, the developers of PUBG have sued the developers of Free Fire as well as Apple, Google, and YouTube for IP infringement.

Twitter finally lets you save your Spaces to use as a podcast

Image: Twitter

If you regularly host a Twitter Spaces room, but were frustrated that you couldn’t save it for future use, Twitter has good news for you.

Back in 2020, Twitter announced the Spaces feature, where you could chat to others about any topic in a virtual room while your followers could listen in, similar to a live podcast. It’s available to use on iOS and Android where you can access it through the navigation bar, or at the top of the app if a follower is hosting one (access to Spaces when using Twitter in a web browser is still in development).

But once you were done hosting a Spaces room, there was no way to save the chat as a file and upload it to a podcast feed for those who may have missed out on the discussion.

However, there will soon be a ‘Record Spaces’ option when you’re about to chat. Once you’re finished with the Space, Twitter will hold it for 30 days, or you can download it as an audio file, which opens up many possibilities.

India’s richest man is pouring more than $80 billion into green energy

Video: CNN

Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani is going big on green energy.

His conglomerate, Reliance Industries, announced Thursday that it would allocate a whopping 6 trillion rupees (approximately $80.6 billion) to renewable power projects in the western Indian state of Gujarat, where it hopes to help generate a million new jobs.

The bulk of that money — about $67.7 billion — will go toward a new power plant and hydrogen system, the company said in a stock exchange filing. Reliance plans to make the massive investment over a 10-to-15-year period, and has already begun scouting for land for the 100-gigawatt capacity site.
