Oppo F19s launch set for September 27, Reno6 Pro 5G Diwali Edition is ‘coming soon’

Image: Oppo

The F19s’ rear panel houses a triple camera system, rumored to comprise 48MP primary, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor units.

The smartphone is built around a punch hole display, said to measure 6.43″ diagonally and have FullHD+ resolution. Previous leaks claim this is an AMOLED panel, and the selfie shooter inside the punch hole uses a 16MP sensor.

The F19s was also rumored to pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging. Although that bit is confirmed by Flipkart, which also confirms the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone. The online retailer also tells us that the F19s will be 7.95mm thick and will be advertised as the “sleekest phone with 5,000 mAh battery.”

The Flipkart page doesn’t reveal the processor that will power the F19s. However, the smartphone passed through Geekbench recently, confirming Snapdragon 662 SoC and 6GB RAM in the process.

This new cheap Nokia phone has 5G and an absolutely giant screen

Image: Future

There are few 5G phones that are as affordable as the best 4G cheap phones, but the new Nokia G50 is one of that select company. It’s just been launched by HMD Global, ahead of an October event when people thought we’d be seeing the device.

This is a supremely affordable phone, costing only £199 in the UK. That converts to just $270 or AU$380, though we don’t have availability information outside the UK just yet – either way, that’s one of the cheapest 5G phones we’ve ever seen.

That’s not all there is to like about it though, as it has a giant 6.82-inch screen, which makes it slightly bigger than the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It’s a HD+ screen, so doesn’t have as many pixels as a mid-range or top-end phone, but many people won’t mind, especially when streaming videos over the internet.

HP’s new 11-inch tablet has a flipping webcam

Image: HP

HP has announced a new 11-inch tablet that appears to be a more or less direct competitor to Microsoft’s Surface Go, with a couple of interesting tricks. For starters, its 13-megapixel rear facing camera can flip around the short edge of the display to work as a webcam, which HP claims is a first for a tablet, and also makes it the highest resolution front-facing camera to boot.

It’s also able to work with its keyboard accessory in either portrait or landscape modes: Handy, since in landscape mode its webcam is on the wrong edge of its 2160 x 1440 IPS display. As well as the keyboard, the tablet also works with HP’s Tilt Pen, and there’s a USB-C port for plugging in more accessories as well as charging, alongside a microSD card slot and a fingerprint reader built into its power button.

The first Pixel 6 Pro hands-on video gives us a look at Google’s new phone design

Rather than witnessing an increasing number of leaks all summer long, Google took charge of the narrative. It unveiled the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro and confirmed many rumors that were already swirling online. Weeks later, it kickstarted a big marketing push showing the world the Pixel 6 phones well before their launch.

But it’s one thing to see the Pixel 6 phones in marketing images or store windows. And it’s quite another to see the phones handled by third parties who aren’t affiliated with Google.

Xiaomi has the power to censor your phone, report claims

Xiaomi has the power to censor your phone, report claims

A security report has found that Xiaomi has the ability to remotely censor its phones. This came from Lithuania’s Defence Ministry, which advised users of the company’s devices to get rid of them.

First covered by Reuters, the Lithuanian report found that the Xiaomi Mi 10T receives an updating list of blocked keywords from the manufacturer. While this hasn’t been enabled in Europe, researchers claim Xiaomi has the technical capability to censor these terms at will.

At the time of the study’s release, there were 449 keywords on the list — all in Chinese characters. These included terms such as “free Tibet” and “Taiwan independence.”

Facebook agreed to pay billions of dollars extra on top of an initial fine sought by the Federal Trade Commission in 2019 to protect CEO Mark Zuckerberg from personal liability related to a massive data leak probe, shareholders allege in a pair of lawsuits made public on Tuesday.

In lawsuits filed last month in Delaware’s Chancery Court, two groups of shareholders cited internal discussions among Facebook’s board members in alleging they authorized a $4.9 billion overpayment of the fine to shield Zuckerberg, the company’s co-founder and largest stockholder, and COO Sheryl Sandberg. The lawsuits were reported earlier by Politico.
